Chris Pratt’s and Lisa Kudrow’s reactions are my favorites! 😂 They take such glee in reading the tweets, which were intended to mock them. Honestly, that’s how trolls should be addressed — with humor and a little appropriate pettiness.
This one is my absolute favorite Mean Tweet that was directed towards me. Yes, she was making fun of my age, but I never thought I’d be tweeting about K-Pop at this stage in my life, either. She got her point across without being racist or sexist and her tweet made me laugh.
Well done, sailoryeol. Well done. 👏
But she’s one of the few who are able to be funny without being vile or making up lies. Here are a few examples. FWIW, this is more of a record for myself than anything else.

Photo 2 is a picture of him and I stand by my words. I would rather be a hag than to be him. It’s obvious to anyone who can read, but I never outed or doxxed anyone. How would I even know that he is a gay Arab man? He isn’t a horrible person because he’s an Arab man or gay. He’s just your run-on-the-mill sexist and ageist troll, who also happens to be racist (judging by the plethora of screen captures circulating around French Twitter.)
It’s amazing that trolls and haters have an expectation that no matter what vitriol they throw at someone, they are to be treated with the utmost respect. My comment wasn’t vile. It was snarky. But he and his shooters couldn’t even handle that much.
I am not your shit-catcher. Take your spleen venting elsewhere.

I get a lot of comments like the one above … that I exist to profit off of BTS.
I may as well toot my own horn here. I literally had an established career well before Jin (the eldest member of BTS) was even born in 1992. I already was a music critic for one of the largest newspapers in the United States. I had published a book that quickly became a New York Times Bestseller and I would later author another book that went into multiple printings. I was an on-air entertainment reporter for a local news station. I was a weekly entertainment contributor for one of Chicago’s most highly-rated radio shows. During my free time, I wrote freelance articles for outlets like Rolling Stone, Variety and Entertainment Weekly. I did a week-long stint on the Today Show. I did all of this while working full-time as a reporter.
In other words … while I love BTS’ music and what they stand for … while I’m very proud of their achievements in a way that only a fellow Korean could understand … My career was never built off of them or their success, because I was here first doing my own thing. BTS is the kind of group I had been hoping for, but never thought would exist in my lifetime. That they showed up when they did is a bonus, but not my raison d’etre (which, in my case, is my child).
For this group of detractors who are always harping on others to do their research, they are especially lazy when it comes to doing even the minimal amount of work when it comes to the people they hate.

People are loud and brave when they’re anonymous on the internet. They wouldn’t dare say this in person to your face, because they are cowards. This is just one reason why everyone hates K-pop. Their fans are awful.

I was today years old when I learned that Americans are deadbeats who think it’s someone else’s fault they haven’t saved money for rent. I’m not talking about the people who are doing their best and can barely get by. As a fellow Korean I wanted to thank you for all the articles that you write and for bringing awareness about Asian-American topics on social media. As a fellow human being, I wanted to apologize for these low lifes who have nothing better to do than write this garbage to you. They know nothing about Korean culture if they think speaking this way to an older Korean woman is acceptable. I hope that you take a cue from IU and sue the shit out of these people.

What I have learned from all of this is that Kpop fans are as annoying as everyone says they are. It’s not a stereotype they are all certifiably nuts.
