Jayelle Korea’s Face Masks

I’ll be honest. When I heard about the coronavirus pandemic spreading all over China and South Korea, I didn’t panic too much. Of course, I was concerned for the people who lived there, including my own relatives and friends. But I assumed that since the United States had seen what was happening in Asia and Europe, that our leaders would be well prepared should the pandemic reach our shores. I was so confident that when one of my nieces went back to Hong Kong, I sent her home with a bag full of face masks and hand sanitizers without even thinking to save any for myself.

Little did I know that in just a few short weeks, people in the U.S. would go nuts, hoarding everything from flour, to toilet paper, to masks. I couldn’t find any at our local stores and so many online outlets were sold out as well.

Then I found Jayelle Korea, which was easy and efficient to navigate. It was a breeze to pick out what I wanted (which was everything, but I restrained myself). I used my credit card to pay via Paypal et voila! Our package arrived over the weekend. When #SonOfJae began pulling all the items out of the box, he said, “This is like Quarantine Christmas!” ㅋㅋ

I’ll get to the masks in a bit, but he was most excited about the keychain, which is made by the same artisan who made the doorplate for BTSRM.

He also really liked the Lemona vitamin supplements that came in a cute heart-shaped canister. (We got J-Hope!)

Then there were the cloth face masks — the main purpose of this order. They’re washable, beautiful and comfortable. My husband and I found them easy to wear. But, of course, children have a different view of comfort, so I had #SonOfJae wear his on our daily walk. It got the thumbs up — this from a child who doesn’t like to wear scarves even when it’s freezing out.

FWIW: the masks are one size fits all, but the straps that go over the ears can be adjusted. I have a large head. My son has a smallish face. We both found the same mask comfortable.

I ordered the Star specifically for my son and sure enough, it was his favorite. He also liked the all-black one (pictured above). I think it’s because he’s seen photos of so many K-Pop stars wearing them going about their daily business. Ha!

He had no interest in the skincare products … Good! Because I’m not sharing!

But I think in a few years, he’s going to be fighting me for the Daily Hanbok. This is a size Medium and fits me well. The top is loose enough that I can wear it with a sweater underneath in the Fall.

But back to the masks… The first day we wore our new masks, it felt great knowing that by wearing them, we were helping protect others. We can’t do all the things we normally would, but just being outside and seeing this sea of beautiful flower petals made us feel like everything was almost okay again.

There has to be a light at the end of this dark tunnel … and we’ll all get through this together! Stay safe, everyone.

CHECK THIS OUT: Jayelle Korea. Cloth masks range from $7 to $10. You may also purchase disposable filters (30 for $9). Be sure to check out the website for current prices, which may change from the time of this post.

    1. I wish all of these people who are so aghast that people wear masks to protect others would just go to an island and live their own stupid, dull, diseased lives together. We have no need for them. Why are whites so against it? Oh, because Asians have been wearing masks since forever.
