All About “Here’s My Plan”

I’m used to seeing 16-episode K-dramas and sometimes 20-episode K-dramas. But I’ve never seen a four-episode Korean series. Have you?

I won’t be able to say that for much longer, though, because the new Korean series, “Here’s My Plan,” will have its premiere on MBC on May 19 in South Korea. The series will air for exactly two weeks (on Wednesdays and Thursdays) until May 27, taking over the timeslot currently held by Lee Min Ki’s “Oh! Master.” (Those who are curious what will air after “Here’s My Plan” runs its course may be happy to know that it’ll be “No One But a Madman” — which stars one of my favorites, Lee Sang Yeob).

But you’re probably thinking, “That’s nice. When can I watch it on my computer?!” You won’t have to wait long. You’ll be able to watch fully-subbed episodes on KOCOWA shortly after they air in Korea.

Yay!

This is the Korean version of a miniseries and I’m here for it.

KOREAN TITLE:

“목표가 생겼다”

THE CHARACTERS:

Lee So Hyun: She’s a 19-year-old high school dropout and petty thief, who hopes that everyone who has made her life miserable will have seriously unhappy lives themselves. But just wishing doesn’t make it true, right? So she takes it a step further. She actually plots out revenge! Are you interested yet, because I am! (You all know how I love a good revenge series, like “Taxi Driver” and “The Penthouse“).

Lee Jae Young is the owner of an eatery called Happy Chicken, where So Hyun gets part-time employment. He is kind-hearted and sees the good in everyone, even when they have huge chips on their shoulder, like So Hyun.

Jo Yun Ho: Another part-time worker at Happy Chicken who befriends So Hyun. A potential love interest?

Just what exactly is going on at Happy Chicken that the establishment plays such an integral plot role? We’ll all have to wait and see…

THE CAST:

Kim Hwan Hee (So Hyun) was born on August 25, 2002, making her the same age as her character. Her previous work includes the films “The Wailing” and “Student A.” But you probably remember her from roles in “Reply 1997” (where she played the younger version of Jung Eun Ji’s lead character), “Robber,” “When the Weather is Fine” and “The Miracle We Met.”

Ryu Soo Young (Jae Young) will turn 42 this autumn. The youthful-looking actor began acting in 2001. He appeared in the films “Summertime,” “Blue” and “The Attorney.” But K-drama fans know him from his work in “The Good Witch,” “The Virtual Bride,” “Blood” and “My Father is Strange.”

Kim Do Hoon (Yun Ho), 22, made his acting debut in the 2018 film “Gate.” Since then, he has appeared in “My Absolute Boyfriend” and “Doctor John.” His next role will be in the upcoming cable series “Dark Hole.”

The concept for “Here’s My Plan” is intriguing and the cast is stellar. I’m  looking forward to seeing how So Hyun’s plan goes, and whether Jae Young’s presence helps her figure out how to wrong all the rights, without placing her in danger.
