Location, location, location! You can’t beat Shilla Stay Hotel Haeundae when it comes to location. It is literally across the street from the famous Haeundae Beach in Busan, South Korea.
When I first checked into my room, I was so jet lagged that when I saw a switch that said “make up room,” I thought it was an actual make up room with great lighting and maybe even a nice chair to sit in while applying cosmetics.
Nope. After a few minutes, it sunk in that the switch was to alert housekeeping that I wanted the room to be … made up. 😬 Anyhow, as with most hotels I’ve checked into after the COVID-19 pandemic, I didn’t request any housekeeping services during my stay and it was fine.
I didn’t order room service, so I can’t speak about that aspect, but I did enjoy heading down every morning to eat breakfast in the cafe that served Korean offerings in addition to the standard western fare. My favorite breakfasts have always been Korean, so it was a treat to choose from the options they had. I was operating on about 3 hours of sleep per night, so it was soothing to eat jook (rice porridge), kimchi and assorted pickled vegetables to get started each day.
And for travelers who appreciate bidets, the Shilla Stay Hotel Haeundae has a bidet function implemented into their toilets. Without being too TMI, it was lovely. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a U.S. hotel that had a bidet function in their bathrooms. But it’s such a civilized addition that I appreciated.
Just the facts: The Shilla Stay Haeundae opened in May 2017. The rooms and lobby are very clean and fresh looking.
