Beyonce Knowles is doing it. So are Richard Gere, Brendan Fraser, Dustin Hoffman and Howard Stern. They’re all taking pictures with Polaroid’s latest instant camera–the Polaroid One ($49.99).
No doubt these celebs can afford the latest in digital camera technology. But who doesn’t get a kick watching a photo materialize right before their eyes in less than 90 seconds? Also, thanks to the self-timer feature on the One, you may now include yourself in group shots or, um, those more intimate shots behind closed doors. Polaroid has no illusions about taking over the hot digital camera market. But they do know there’s a market out there for folks who want immediate gratification without having to upload images and print them out.
“Polaroid and digital cameras live side by side in [many] consumers’ homes,” says Polaroid spokeswoman Kimberly R. Reingold. “The Polaroid One is the perfect social connection tool for capturing in-the-moment memories to share immediately with friends and family at parties, holiday gatherings and every day occasions.”
