“One day, when you’re older, you won’t want to hold my hand anymore. And that’s OK. You’ll be bigger and won’t need me to help you cross the street.”
Kyle looked up at me and said, “I’ll always want to hold your hand, Mommy. Always.”
Today was his first day of 1st Grade. There were no tears. Just joy and excitement. I miss him already.
I’m not an early riser, but I was up at 5 this morning making sure Kyle had everything he needed for school.
This isn’t a fancy lunch, but this is what he requested:
♦ a salami sandwich with honey mustard
♦ a mozzarella cheese stick
♦ sliced apples
♦ Goldfish crackers.
He actually asked for more crackers, so I threw some extra ones in after I snapped this shot.
The apple / mango sauce is for his snack.
I hope he enjoys eating with all the big kids at school today.
Bon appetit, little one.

This puts the tuna sandwich and green apple lunches I’ve made all week for my self to shame. Do you want to make my lunches too?^^
1st grade!! Wow! That is major!
So exciting what a bug boy you have I your hands! Best of luck in the great big world little man!!!
Wow! Congratulations!
Enjoy these wonderful times! My daughter leaves for college next Wednesday.
I will, Robert! Thank you! I’ll bet you can remember when your daughter was in first grade…
My son starts K in a couple weeks. I am a bit sad about his growing up but eager to get him out of the house I’m sick of his fighting with his younger brother!
Looks delicious! I love salami!
It wasn’t nearly as cute as what you made for B, but I’m going to pretend I did that delibratately ’cause Kyle’s older and a boy. 😉
Sigh…..I have all this year and all next school year before Alex starts kindergarten August 2016, and already I’m dreading it!
Looks delicious!
Thank you! We love your bento boxes and have purchased several for the school year! 🙂
12 years of school – you will enjoy being an empty nester. There is a life after … and that is called “having rubber band kids”. They come and go and sometimes even pay for your coffee (after they raided your pantry). I love my all grown up child come to visit and invite us to come visit.
So sweet.
Kick a$$ dream lunch!! Awesome job, you give me inspiration as the year starts!
This is so cute!
“TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO,
AND WHEN HE IS OLD, HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT.”
I HOPE YOUR SON IS NEVER ASHAMED TO HOLD YOUR HAND !
