Overheard today, as I watched two little boys play:
Boy 1: Hey, do you want to marry me?
Boy 2: Yes.
Boy 1: And we have to marry my mom, too.
Boy 2: OK, she makes good snacks.
These two little preschoolers have no preconceived notions of who you’re supposed to love. They just know that if you’re very lucky, you get to marry your best friend.
Boy 1 is my son. Boy 2 is his best friend. They’ve known each other their entire lives. I hope they’re at each other’s weddings one day, regardless of who they choose to marry.

You make good snacks? Yes!
I wish the adults can be as non-biased as the two boys are!
