My son’s been taking Tae Kwon Do for about 1-1/2 months so far, and he loves it. He has a fantastic instructor and enjoys being with the other children in his dojang.
The other day, we were talking about bullies, and how it’s important not only to protect yourself, but to also look out for children who are getting picked on. I told him how I had been picked on when I was little. I didn’t tell him it was because I was Asian. He doesn’t need to know that yet.
He grew very quiet and serious and said, “I wish I had been there to protect you, Mommy.”
