In the most visually stunning moment of the evening, a model languidly “flew” high across the stage wearing a luxurious red gown with a 45-foot train trailing behind her. Was she a bride or a member of Cirque du Soleil?
Look out for the lady in red. Make that ladies in red. At this year’s Glamorama, 30 of fashion’s top designers will showcase their one-of-a-kind red gowns, which will be auctioned off later to benefit the Art Institute of Chicago (see sidebar for more information).
The models were gorgeous at Glamorama–the fashion extravaganza held Friday night at the Chicago Theatre. The clothes were delightful. And the atmosphere was festive.
The name is Bond. Just Bond. The comely, classically trained lookers in Bond are the musical headliners at Friday’s Glamorama. While it’s tempting to dub the Aussie quartet the Spice Girls of the string set, there’s no doubt these women can actually play.
Two frightened Dalmatian puppies and a beaming baby almost stole the show on the runway Thursday night at the second annual Red Hot Chicago event. But knockout designs by the likes of Tiffani Kim, Jane Hamill and Reginalds made sure that the well-heeled crowd of 900 at Navy Pier’s Grand Ballroom got much more than a dog and pony show.
The music rocked. A bride bonded with Superman. And the clothes weren’t bad, either. This year’s Fash Bash–Friday night at the Chicago Theatre–had all the frenetic energy that was lacking at the event’s more staid Chicago debut last year.
Never mind the peekaboo gowns that displayed ample cleavage of both kinds, and the kicky patchwork outfits were so ugly they were cute. The stylish crowd of 700-plus that attended “Red Hot Chicago” Wednesday night at the House of Blues got quite an eyeful both on and off the runway.
