In 2008, South Korea held its first ever trial by jury in Dageu. In that trial, jurors deliberated for two hours before deciding that the 27-year-old man accused of robbing and assaulting a 70-year-old woman in her home was guilty. “Juror 8” is not a fictionalized version of those events. Rather, it’s a story about a man who plead guilty to murdering his mother and the first Korean jury that will determine his sentence.
There are still 18 days left until the end of the 2021 — and Gong Yoo’s “The Silent Sea” doesn’t even makes its premiere until December 24. But I don’t know that there will be a better K-drama this year than “Happiness.”
IU, D.O., V, Suzy, Park Hyung-Sik and Chanyeol are a few of my favorite Triple Threats. Who are your top picks?
The Korean adaptation of “Suits” is an exciting series that shows off Park Hyung-Sik’s acting range and beautifully expressive face.
It’s the first day of the new decade and I want to approach every day — or as many days as possible — like Park Hyung-Sik’s character does in “Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon.”
V and Park Seo-Joon. Jungkook and Yeo Jin-Goo. EXO’s D.O. and Jo In-Sung. Which are your favorite idol/actor bromances?
“Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon” came out around the same time as “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo.” And that was one reason why I waited so long to watch it. While the latter was a cute drama, it wasn’t great. “Strong Woman” is a wonderful series that started off with so much potential. The first few episodes were so great that I thought I might be awarding it four stars. But I ended up docking it a point, because of the cringe-inducing way it treated gays.
