Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Page Kennedy is based out of Los Angeles these days, though he has spent a good chunk of time filming in Canada. “I really like Canada,” says Kennedy, 38. “I was most recently in Vancouver in the summer filming ‘Backstrom.’ There’s so much to do. They had the Shakespeare Festival, which was a lot of fun. The water was beautiful and the architecture was really pretty. You don’t see buildings like that in Los Angeles.”

Fans may keep updated on Kennedy’s career via his website and Twitter.

Q. What is your favorite vacation destination?

A. The best place I’ve probably been to is Montreal. I filmed there a few years ago in the summer. That was the most fun place I’ve been to. Every weekend there was some kind of festival — comedy, music, theater — or something going on.

Q. Did you learn to speak French while there?

A. I picked up a few words here and there. But since they spoke French and English, I got lazy. I can tell you how to say some colors in French. (Laughs)

Q. Have you filmed in a place that wasn’t so nice?

A. Filming in Vancouver in the winter! (Laughs) It was not so nice, because of all the rain and grey. I was taking a lot of public transportation and it wasn’t fun.

Q. Detroit gets a bad rap, with people saying there’s not a lot to do…

A. They would be correct. (Laughs) But then I would quickly add that there are some interesting things you could do. They have casinos now. And when I go there, I binge eat at American Coney Island. They don’t have those in L.A. I eat nonstop there every day and gain tons of pounds. I get the same fries with cheese all the time — French fries smothered in chili with slices of melted cheese.

Q. What are some weekend getaways?

A. I’m kind of a homebody. But I’ve never been one who could turn down Napa Valley or Mexico.

Q. Do you tend to eat American-style food or whatever the locals are eating?

A. It’s such a weird thing. I feel like I’m a very picky eater, because I don’t like a lot of experimental foods or fine cuisine. But, it still seems like I eat everything that’s offered! I could eat off a food cart and be fine. I should probably be more careful with that than I am. But if given the choice, I’m a pretty simple meat-and-potatoes type of guy.

Q. Where would you travel to for a fantastic meal?

A. This is going to sound ridiculous, but I would go seek out our caterers in Vancouver. They make these pancakes that are unlike anything I’ve ever tasted in my life. They’re the best ones I’ve ever had. I think I taste some nutmeg and maybe vanilla in there. I’ve had them with bananas and chocolate chips. The apple cinnamon pancakes are really good. But the plain ones are perfect for me.

Q. What is left on your travel bucket list?

A. Brazil. And I’ve never been to Hawaii.

Q. What was the first trip you took as a child?

A. We once did a West Coast trip. We had a family reunion that was in Long Island, New York. We flew from there to Los Angeles where we had another family reunion in L.A. Then we went to Santa Barbara for a week or two, and then drove to Washington (state). We went to Santa Barbara again when I was 14, and I probably enjoyed that trip more.

Q. What is always packed in your carry-on bag?

A. My iPod for my music and my Mac Air. That’s pretty much it. Oh, and if I’m working, I’ll have my script with me.

Q. When you’re on the plane, are you more likely to chat with your neighbor or sleep?

A. I guess it depends on who it is. There have been times when I just slept the whole time and didn’t get a chance to talk to anyone. Then there were other times where I was more open to having conversations with another interesting passenger. But it’s nice to have a little downtime.
